Weeks 2 and 3 Recap

My bad, folks! I had a lazy Sunday last week, and didn’t post. I promise it wasn’t because I had nothing to say – I just chose to disconnect instead.

But let it be known that I knocked out weeks 2 and 3 of P90 in the meantime! This program is kicking my butt, which I love, but I have run into that dreaded problem of not seeing the numbers on the scale go down. I know, I know, the  scale isn’t the ultimate measure of success. Happily, I have noticed my clothes fitting better and improved mood, so that certainly makes me feel good.

It’s been a bit of a struggle this time around, though, because I’ve felt more tired than usual. I’ve been feeling a bit off lately, so I went to the doctor and
took some blood to see if we can figure out what’s going on. I should know results on Monday. Fingers crossed for some improvement!

I’m going to be working on some food prep today – hope you all enjoy your Sunday and have a great week!

Week One… And Done!

Whew! It’s been a heck of a week, getting back into my fitness routine. I got week one of P90 on the books, and I’m feeling pretty great right now!

I’ve done really well on my nutrition, and spent today prepping my healthy foods for the week. My goal this week is to improve my water intake. I’m a total coffee addict, so I have to wean myself off of my pot a day. Hopefully, I’ll have a positive progress report when I update next week.

Official weight loss at the end of week one: 4.8 pounds. Woot! Bring on week 2!

Hope you all have a great week! Keep an eye out for some new recipes I’ll be posting!

I’m Back!

I have to admit, I fell off the map for a minute there. After the move to Boise, it was difficult to get back into a routine. Things have finally stabilized, and I have been psyching myself up to get back to a fitness routine.

I worked on reminding myself of my “why.” Why do I want to engage in a fitness program? For me, I’ve learned that my depression and anxiety symptoms are so much more manageable when I’m regularly working out. I feel better about myself, especially when I look in the mirror and see the physical changes that take place. I have more  energy, I’m happier, and I’m able to engage more with other people when I feel good.

I got myself up and out of bed at 5:50 this morning, and pressed play on P90 at 6:00. I feel really good right now, and I’m excited to be back and be accountable.

How do you all renew your commitments to health? I’m always looking for new tips and techniques to try, and I’d love to hear some new ideas!

Day 2 of 21

Oh wow. I was hurting something fierce this morning! Back, legs, abs, neck, shoulders…the works. To be honest, I was dreading my workout today, especially since I thought it was Lower Fix today.

Thank the heavens, it was Upper Fix today! I can’t seem to find the box I packed my hands weights in, but luckily I have unpacked my resistance bands. It felt good to warm up my muscles and do some heavier lifting today. Also, I only needed a break once during the one-minute forearm plan! Woot!

Seems to me that I’ve at least retained the ability to recover quickly after working out, which I’m glad for. Now here’s hoping I don’t wake up stuff and sore tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday!

FINALLY!

I’m back, babies!

I got through the move (relatively) unscathed, and got my apartment mostly unpacked and comfortable. So after 3 weeks off from a workout routine, I fired up 21 Day Fix with Autumn Calabrese.

I started today with Total Body Cardio. The first time I did this workout, my legs were jelly and I had trouble sitting down and standing up for a week afterward. Although it probably didn’t help that I walked all over Woodland Park Zoo afterward (which is HUGE, by the way).

Today was slightly reminiscent of that first day. I was out of breath rapidly, and had to break for a few seconds more than the 20 allotted between exercises. But I did it! I dug in, got through each 60-second exercise, and I feel awesome!

Now I’m refueling with my strawberry Shakeology, which I made with coconut water, spinach, banana, and organic honey yogurt.

Delicious! Here’s to a great workout! Hope your Monday is a great one!

It’s Been A Long Time

Oh wow, so much change has happened since the start of September! On the day of my last post, my husband had a big interview with the CEO of a company that he had applied with in late August. He felt he did really well in the interview, and we were both on pins and needles waiting to hear back.

On the 5th, we learned that he had been offered this amazing job as a motion graphics designer for Aspen Labs. Woo-hoo! Fantastic! Brian has been working hard to find a permanent, full-time position, as freelance can be very hit-or-miss.

The catch? The job is in Boise, Idaho. And they want him to start on September 24th. Whoa!

We got cracking: picked up a ton of boxes from his contact job at Amazon, started going through the stuff we’ve accumulated in our 4 years together, and began the (seemingly) monumental task of packing up our lives to move to a brand new (to us) place. Fast forward to now, and we’ve done it!

In just two weeks, we went through our belongings, donated a ton of good quality, gently used items to Goodwill and Northwest Furniture Bank, and offloaded a bunch of stuff we’ve been hanging on to for no good reason (especially me!).

Now it’s Friday, September 19, and we’re up super early, preparing our boxes and furniture to be moved onto the truck we’ll pick up later this morning. The plan is to load up, get some sleep, and take off around midnight. Google maps tells us it takes about 8 hours to get to Boise from Federal Way, and if we time everything right, we’re hoping to be done with our move by late afternoon tomorrow.

Wish us luck! Hoping everything goes smoothly, especially having to bring our two kitties along with us. I’ll be back once we’ve settled in a bit. Plus, after a week of being unable to prorate and cook my healthy meals, I am in need of some butt-kicking exercise! So plan on seeing some new posts about my return to the Fix!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Turbo Fire!

The PiYo challenge is over. I’ll be posting my results, and wishing I hadn’t gotten waylaid the last couple of weeks, later today.

I felt the urge to kick some flabby butt today, so I turned on a bonus workout that came with PiYo. It’s Chalene’s Turbo Fire Low Hiit Class. Holy crap! She is a beast in her own right! I didn’t get pictures today, since everything moves so fast that video would likely be better. And I’m not videoing that workout any time soon. 🙂 I literally had to fight not to laugh as my flab was flung around the room! Great workout, great modifiers, and now my legs are sore. Success!

Happy Labor Day, and have a great Monday!
